Kim’s Guest Post
The best real life animal experience I’ve had is with my cat, Blackjack. And it happens often. Whenever I put headphones on and listen to this meditation CD I like, about halfway through he comes up and snuggles close to me and falls asleep. I must emit some kind of super-relaxed vibe he likes as he never does that at any other time.
My writing process for this book has been in seeing things from another perspective. For instance, when I got the idea for the third story, Abduction at Sea, I was out on a boat watching my dad fish. After the little guy was caught, I stopped paying attention to my family and started thinking of the swordfish, wondering if he may think of humans as aliens trying to abduct him. The animals I chose for the stories were completely random, only coming to me in the form of a tale that seemed to evolve from a situation I was in. For the first one, Becoming Sacred, I was driving past a farm and saw cows standing there. Later that evening I watched a show on TV about sacred cows in India. From there, I had the idea of Charlie wanting to escape his fate.
My favorite moment since the book came out was when I received my first 5 star Amazon book review from a stranger. What a feeling!

The cover’s so pretty–I like that it looks like watercolors. & it’s wonderful that part of the money is donated to the ASPCA!
I like the cover too, the colors are also pretty! I agree, it’s wonderful that some of the money is donated to the ASPCA! :)
Lynn,
Glad you like the book cover. It’s a watercolor created by artist Geoffrey Benzing. Craziest story on how I found him too. I went to see Breaking Dawn part 1. I fell in love with the song they played while Bella & Edward walked down the aisle. I researched who the song was written by and found it to be a local guy, an indie musician from a nearby suburb. His band is called Sleeping at Last. His cd covers were so beautiful, all watercolors created by another artist. I figured I wouldn’t be able to afford him, but contacted him and found that I could!
I was psyched beyond words to have my book cover have a Twilight connection. :)

I’m so glad you posted about this. I’m stoked to read it. It’ll be an interesting read. I’m a super animal lover (vegetarian for 6 1/2 years, woo!), so I can’t explain how happy I am something like this is being spread.
Have a good day! (:
Thanks; it’s great that you’re a vegetarian! :) Thanks so much for stopping by & commenting!
Lisa,
I’m a vegetarian too–for the last 6 months. Hubby did it with me! I hope you enjoy my book. I’m currently working on a novella called Dogschwitz, which will be set in the future and highlights the terrible time in Amercian history when millions of animals were euthanized each year.
