ARC of These Broken Stars by Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner
(Coming December 10th, 2013 from Disney Hyperion)
“It’s a night like any other on board the Icarus. Then, catastrophe strikes: the massive luxury spaceliner is yanked out of hyperspace and plummets into the nearest planet. Lilac LaRoux and Tarver Merendsen survive. And they seem to be alone.
Lilac is the daughter of the richest man in the universe. Tarver comes from nothing, a young war hero who learned long ago that girls like Lilac are more trouble than they’re worth. But with only each other to rely on, Lilac and Tarver must work together, making a tortuous journey across the eerie, deserted terrain to seek help.
Then, against all odds, Lilac and Tarver find a strange blessing in the tragedy that has thrown them into each other’s arms. Without the hope of a future together in their own world, they begin to wonder—would they be better off staying here forever?
Everything changes when they uncover the truth behind the chilling whispers that haunt their every step. Lilac and Tarver may find a way off this planet. But they won’t be the same people who landed on it.
The first in a sweeping science fiction trilogy, These Broken Stars is a timeless love story about hope and survival in the face of unthinkable odds.”
My Thoughts
I just got to a very interesting plot twist in this book, and I’m excited to see how it pans out!
ARC of Famous Last Words by Jennifer Salvato Doktorski
(Coming July 2nd, 2013 from Henry Holt and Co.)
“Sixteen-year-old Samantha D’Angelo has death on the brain. Her summer internship at the local newspaper has her writing obituaries instead of soaking up the sun at the beach. Between Shelby, Sam’s boy-crazy best friend; her boss Harry, a true-blue newspaper man; and AJ, her fellow “intern scum” (aka the cute drummer for a band called Love Gas), Sam has her hands full. But once she figures out what—or who—is the best part of her summer, will she mess it all up?
As Sam learns her way around both the news room and the real world, she starts to make some momentous realizations about politics, ethics, her family, romance, and most important—herself.”
My Thoughts
I adored Jennifer’s How My Summer Went Up in Flames, so I’m looking forward to finishing this book!
Unremembered by Jessica Brody
When Freedom Airlines flight 121 went down over the Pacific Ocean, no one ever expected to find survivors. Which is why the sixteen-year-old girl discovered floating among the wreckage—alive—is making headlines across the globe.
Even more strange is that her body is miraculously unharmed and she has no memories of boarding the plane. She has no memories of her life before the crash. She has no memories period. No one knows how she survived. No one knows why she wasn’t on the passenger manifest. And no one can explain why her DNA and fingerprints can’t be found in a single database in the world.
Crippled by a world she doesn’t know, plagued by abilities she doesn’t understand, and haunted by a looming threat she can’t remember, Seraphina struggles to piece together her forgotten past and discover who she really is. But with every clue only comes more questions. And she’s running out of time to answer them.
Her only hope is a strangely alluring boy who claims to know her from before the crash. Who claims they were in love. But can she really trust him? And will he be able to protect her from the people who have been making her forget?
From popular young adult author Jessica Brody comes a compelling and suspenseful new sci-fi series, set in a world where science knows no boundaries, memories are manipulated, and true love can never be forgotten.

I’m curious to read your review on Unremembered! :) Thanks for stopping by & commenting!
These Broken Stars has such a pretty cover. I love it. I’m really interested in all of these books. They’re all pretty much right down my alley. I’m glad you enjoyed them (:
I’m a sucker for books with stars/sky on the cover! :) Thanks for stopping by & commenting!
Absolutely. They’re usually gorgeous. I know some people were super upset that Shades of Earth wasn’t the same design style as the other Across the Universe books. I’ve never read them, but I’m inclined to agree. The stars are much prettier. Oh well.
I was annoyed that the Shades of Earth cover was different! I loved the stars on the first 2 covers, but my biggest complaint was that I thought the trilogy covers all should’ve matched, and that they should’ve waited to change them all at once for the new paperbacks.
I totally agree. I hate it when they change the covers like that. They did that with the Anna and the French Kiss books too. I LOVE the new covers, don’t get me wrong, but I really hope they come out with hardcovers of the first two books in the new design. I really want Anna and the French Kiss in hardcover, but I like the new cover design more, so I’m torn. Haha.
Ooh, lucky you! I’m looking forward to These Broken Stars and Famous Last Words quite a lot. I have Unremembered out from the library right now, although I’m not sure I’ll be able to get to it before it has to be returned.
I hope you get to read Unremembered! :) Thanks for stopping by & commenting!
Oh my goodness, wow! Great haul, my mouth dropped open at the publication date for some of these ;) I can’t wait to see your reviews!

I’m finally replying to comments! (You know, practically 2 months after the fact, but better late than never, right?) The cover of These Broken Stars is stunning, and I usually don’t like covers with photos of people on them. I really want to read Unremembered since I like Jessica Brody’s books. Hope you enjoyed them! :)
Same here, I don’t really like many covers with people on them, but I adored the These Broken Stars cover. :) I really enjoyed Unremembered, I hope you do too!
