Mad About Nails

Mad About Nails is hosted by A Backwards Story
This week, my family had some friends over, and I talked to the girl who I call The Coolest 11 Year Old Ever (Hi, S., if you’re reading this!). We had such a great conversation about books (we chatted lots about The Hunger Games, she told me about the Above World series, and I introduced her to the Lunar Chronicles) and nail polish (Liqued Sand! Mood Ring nail polish!). Along the way, she mentioned that I should paint my nails to match my book covers. Right after that, I got into a really fun Twitter conversation about nail polish with Bonnie of A Backwards Story, who asked me to participate in her meme, Mad About Nails and post a picture of what nail polish I was currently wearing. (You should totally check out her meme. Her nail designs are fantastic. The girl knows her nail polish!) So, here are my nails I had painted this week; I’m not going to pretend to be a pro (or even good) considering I just used what nail polish I had out at the moment on a whim, but I had fun! That’s what counts, right?
In The Time Traveling Fashionista series, the main character gets whisked away to different time periods when she tries on gorgeous gowns. Well, I don’t actually have a purple gown (or, um, a time traveling one); but to match the one on the latest cover in the series (The Time Traveling Fashionista and Cleopatra, Queen of the Nile), I tried out a purple polish to mimic the dress on it and then added pink sparkle trim as homage to the dress on the very first book, The Time Traveling Fashionista On Board the Titanic.
So there you have it, hopefully I’ll be back with some better-looking designs instead of last-minute ones!
Do you love nail polish? What nail polish are you wearing now? Tweet Bonnie and I polish pics!
Interesting, I have always been a tomboy and was never into nails and then had a job that wouldn’t allow nails or polish. So now that I can paint them I think they look funny when I do..LOL.
I went through a phase where I didn’t like nail polish and never wanted to put any on, but I’ve started to get a lot more into polish now!
Omg Above World is the best you must read it! *pauses to breathe* Also yey nail polish! I don’t paint my fingers because any chip would annoy me, but I do paint my toes lots of fun colors! They are red right now in typical pretend-adult fashion, but I’m thinking there needs to be something new and fun soon
I’ve got to check it out! I’ve just been debating about waiting a bit closer to the last book’s release date. I love red nail polish! My nail polish used to chip a ton, but I started putting that clear topcoat polish on it & it protects it a lot! :)
Ooh, pretty nails and a really good job in matching the book cover! Such a cool meme (and 11 year old) :)
Thanks so much, Sunny!!! :) The 11yr old just emailed me that, as I suggested, she started reading Cinder and she loves it! She’s not even halfway through it yet and she’s already telling me she’s so excited for Scarlet and Cress! Success! *fistpump* :)
THat’s such a pretty colour! And a cool meme. I love nail polish… I find it quite therapeutic to apply it although I’m rather messy at it. So glad the 11 y.o. loves Cinder! I love that book and am anxiously waiting for Cress!
Thanks! :) I can get so messy with nail polish too; if I don’t get wet polish on my fingers, I’ll smudge it because I can never sit still long enough for it to dry.
I am so excited for Cress too! I’ve been hearing so many great things about it too from bloggers who got ARCs.
Aww, yay!!! <3 This makes me so happy! You're the first person to do this with me! *throws a party* And…you make me blush! *^_^* I love the softness of those two colors together! So prety! And your nails are really long and lovely <3
Hooray! :D Thank you, I have one planned for next week too. :)
I adored the first two Time Traveling Fashionista series, so I will definitely get the third. Thanks for the heads up! :)
It looks like a fun read!
