What are your favorite quotes from books?
One of my favourite quotes from a recent book I read was “Never Underestimate the power of Underestimation” and “Death is but the next great adventure” from Hp. This is kind of cheating, but this from Star Wars-Master Yoda of course when he tells Luke “Do. Or do not. There is no try.” Great quotes Alice!
That’s a great quote from Star Wars, I wish I could’ve added movie quotes too! :) Thanks for stopping by & commenting!
I love that TKAMBird quote! My favorite quote from that book is “Until I feared I would lose it, I never loved to read. One does not love breathing.”-Scout. Now I want to reread this book lol. My TTT
I love that quote too, that book has so many great lines! :) Thanks for stopping by & commenting!
Oh I adore your Lewis Carroll quotes!! Just love!! And I totally did not remember that quote from Farenheit 451! Love that one too! Great topics! I am in love with words and I really liked reading your favorite ones! :)
I could’ve completed the whole list with just Lewis Carroll quotes! :) Aw, thanks! :)
Oh, I LOVE the Farenheit 451 and Alice quotes! I haven’t read many of the others, but they were great choices, too. Gah! I’m almost wishing I could redo my list to favorite quotes haha, there are so many amazing ones!
I had a hard time choosing which Fahrenheit 451 and Alice quotes to use, there are so many good ones from those books! :) Thanks for stopping by & commenting!
Oh I love that believe quote!
My TTT
I use that quote a lot, I just adore it! :) Thanks for stopping by & commenting!
I love Meg Cabot quotes XD They’re so snarky and sassy!
Meg always writes such fun books! :)
I was so happy when she wrote a whole trilogy for Airhead! I thought it was a solo book, but when the ending drew near I was terrified because it wasn’t ending the way I wanted it to! But then I realized it was going to be a series, so needless to say I was extremely relieved!
I LOVE that TKaM quote! I always love people who are simple and clear.
I did the same on my blog, and it was so hard! I mean, I’ve read so many books, how do you choose just ten quotes? I guess my all times favorite is this one, from a series called Fever by Karen Marie Moning; “Most people spend their short time in this world less than half alive. They wander through their days in a haze of responsibility and resentment. Something happens to them not long after they’re born. They get conflicted about what they want and start worshiping the wrong gods. Should. Mercy. Equality. Altruism. There’s nothing you should do. Do what you want. Mercy isn’t Nature’s way. She’s an equal opportunity killer. We aren’t born the same. Some are stronger, faster. Never apologize for it. Altruism is an impossible concept. There’s no action you can me that doesn’t spring from how you want to feel about yourself.” I don’t know, I feel like the character gets me, haha.
It’s so cool that you chose quotes too, I’m off to go look at your list! :)
What a cool idea for a TTT. I especially love the first one from Through The Looking Glass by Lewis Carroll, the one about the six impossible things. Sometimes I curse myself for not reading more classics, I’m sure I’m missing out, but I’ve just never been able to get through one. (I am, however, determined to read Pride and Prejudice someday).
I really love that quote too, I could have filled this whole list with just Wonderland/Looking Glass quotes! :)
Can that TKAM quote be like, the motto of the world? PLEASE? Also, I LOVE that quote from A Long, Long Sleep! That made me bust out laughing heehee! And Ally Carter is awesome! Great list!
Thanks for stoppin’ by!
I burst out laughing at that quote when I read A Long, Long Sleep too, it was definitely unexpected! :)
Excellent list (especially your Alice quotes).
I could’ve made up the whole list with just Alice quotes! :)
I loved Also Known As! And very appropriate to use a couple Alice quotes :) Fun topic!
Also Known As was so funny; and I could’ve completed my whole list with just Alice quotes! :)
Your Alice quotes are two of my favourites. I’m often using the six impossible things before breakfast all the time. I used it just the other day when I was at work and someone was doubting me :P Quotes is such a great TTT!
I could’ve made up my whole list with just Alice quotes, but I definitely use these two the most! :) I’m glad to find another blogger who uses the 6 impossible things quote! :)
There are some great quotes and books on here! One quote that I’ll always remember is the last line of Mockingjay: “But there are much worse games to play.” Thanks for sharing and stopping by!
Rachel @ Beauty and the Bookshelf
I love that quote too, it almost made my list! :)
Now this idea sounds really great! I think I’ll borrow it from you for the next freeby :) I like your quotes even though I haven’t read most of these. Great idea really :)
Now I’m curious to see what your favorite quotes are! :)
Great top 10 list of quotes, there are so many great ones from Fahrenheit 451 and I could do a top 10 quotes just from the Alice books alone!
My Top 10 Tuesday!
Me too, I had to really narrow down all of my favorite Alice quotes! :)
I love the quotes you’ve picked! The Cross My Heart & Hope To Spy one made me smile. One of my favourite quotes is from If I Stay by Gayle Forman: “Sometimes you make choices in life and sometimes choices make you.”
Great list!
My Top Ten
Thanks for sharing your quote pick!!! :)
Those are some awesome quotes! :) Some of my favorties cross with your list too, like the quote from To Kill a Mockingbird.
To Kill a Mockingbird has such great quotes! :)
I honestly seriously wish I was one of those people that remember quotes from books or movies. But I never do. I really loved your quotes though! So many of them I have read myself but would never think of them when asked.
Thanks for sharing!

“If you’ll believe in me, I’ll believe in you. Is that a bargain?” is among one of my favorites. Although my favorite atm is from The Evolution of Mara Dyer: “They rattled my cage to see if I’d bite. When they released me, they’d see the answer is yes.”
Love all the quotes you listed! Especially the one from How to Kill a Mockingbird.
I use that Alice quote a lot! :) Thanks for sharing your quote pick!
Great quotes! I especially love the Ally Carter one. Her books are so fun and VERY quotable.

I agree, but I knew I had to use this quote, because it’s part of what made Bex my favorite character! :)
All of those quotes are so good, especially the Lewis Carroll ones. Right now I’m reading Everybody Sees the Ants and a favorite quote out of there is “He may have peed on your feet, but no one can pee on your soul without your permission.”

Thanks for sharing your quote pick!!! :)
Those are some good quotes! It’s so hard to think offhand what my favorites are… One day, when I have more time to think about it, I think I’ll have to post a top book and movie quotes post.
I’d love to see that post! :)
Awesome quotes! I love the Ally Carter one, that made me laugh. XD
One of my favorite quotes is from Brandon Sanderson’s Mistborn series: “A man can only stumble for so long before he either falls or stands up straight.”
Thanks for stopping by my TTT! :)
Thanks for sharing your quote pick!!! :)
I must admit that I’m not a huge quotes person, but I love reading what passages really stick with people. I love the one from AKA. So true, and such a fun book.
I agree; AKA was really fun and I’m looking forward to the sequel! :)
Love this list! I carry in my heart a quote that is probably not well known — In Lenin’s Tomb by David Remnick, Mikhail Gorvachev is quoted as saying “while I am breathing, I am hoping,” and whenever I’m having a bad day, remembering that and taking a deep breath has a way of turning it around.
Thanks for sharing your quote pick!!! :)
Love this topic! I adore book quotes, and these are great. I especially love the one from The Long Long Sleep (which I have yet to read but sounds awesome). One of my favorite quotes from Fahrenheit 451 is “What traitors books can be! You think they’re backing you up, and they turn on you. Others can use them, too, and there you are, lost in the middle of the moor, in a great welter of nouns and verbs and adjectives.”
My TTT
I loved A Long, Long Sleep, and that is such a great quote from Fahrenheit 451, I love it! Thanks for mentioning it!!! :)
Great list! I especially love the To Kill A Mockingbird quote. And I’ve never read Just One Wish, but that quote is awesome!
Thanks for stopping by my blog!
To Kill a Mockingbird is such a great book, and that quote from Just One Wish had me laughing (but it’s true)! :)
I love the Beekeeper’s Apprentice!
Me too, I just reread it the other day! :)
LOVE these quotes. For the books I have read, I grinned while reading them. Especially love the Ally Carter and Meg Cabot ones. For the ones I haven’t read, it makes me want to read them even more! Great list, Alice!
Thanks for stopping by my TTT :)
There are so many fun quotes from Ally and Meg! :) Thanks for stopping by & commenting!
I hardly keep quotes, I read so many books per month that when I find an interesting quote, I just jot it down in my notebook to use it for my reviews later on.
I love the quote you added from A Long, Long Sleep though; in fact, I think I read a similar quote once before.
Anyways, thanks for stopping by my TTT earlier Alice! (:
I really loved A Long, Long Sleep; it had more great quotes in it! :)
I don’t pay a whole lot of attention to quotes, but you choose some great ones. I love the one from Alice in Wonderland.
I could’ve made up the whole list with just Alice quotes! :)
“I think there’s just one kind of folks. Folks.” such a beautiful quote from one of my favorite books. My favorite quote of the moment (because I have too many) is “Nobody’s perfect. We’re all just one step up from the beasts and one step down from the angels.”
― Jeannette Walls. :)
Thanks for sharing your quote pick! :)
Aw, Bex. *pets Bex*
My TTT: http://shelversanon.blogspot.com/2013/04/top-10-tuesday-rewind-my-book-boyfriends.html
Bex is my favorite character in the GG series! :)
A few of these made me chuckle! I think you picked out some pretty good ones! I liek the one from To Kill a Mockingbird and the one from The Beekeeper’s Apprentice, which now sounds like something I would like to read since it’s historical.
Great choice in topic!
The Beekeeper’s Apprentice is one of my favorite books! :)
These are great quotes! I’m not one to remember quotes or even write them down, so I couldn’t even tell you what I’ve liked. lol Good job though!
Thanks for stopping by & commenting! :)
I am IN LOVE with all of these quotes!
Hooray! Glad you love them! :)
This is such a great topic! My favorite book related quote would have to actually be a Latin phrase “in libris libertas” which means “in books there is freedom”. I think if I tattoo this would be it! And of course being a Potter-head i don’t think any list is complete without a Potter quote “It takes a great deal of bravery to stand up to our enemies, but just as much to stand up to our friends.” (Sorcerer’s Stone)
Oh, I love that Latin phrase!!! :) Thanks for sharing it!
I like the quote “Not all those who wander are lost” …it’s from The Lord of the Rings which I have not read, so it’s sort of cheating, but it’s a fabulous quote.
Cool list!! I had a tough time with this topic when I did it… I don’t keep track of quotes enough. Plus I didnt know the wanderer one then either :(
I really like that quote too! :) (I haven’t read Lord of the Rings, either.)
Thanks for sharing these quotes! I have some of these titles on my to-read pile…hope to get around to them soon xD
Thanks for dropping by my TTT last Tuesday, hope you’re having a great weekend :)
