Mad About Nails is an awesome meme hosted by A Backwards Story

Earlier this year, I received an ARC of These Broken Stars by Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner from Disney Hyperion. I fell in love with the cover, which was absolutely stunning, and was excited to find that the writing and story inside were equally stunning. (I am so excited to review this book next month, I haven’t stopped recommending it!) Ever since I saw the cover for These Broken Stars, I’d thought about painting my nails to match, but always hesitated because I am not professional by any means. But then I figured, why not just go for it? Here’s what my nails look like this week:

TBS 1

I’ve been loving OPI’s San Francisco line of nail polish, and found that their liquid sand (nail polish with a sand-like and sparkle texture) Alcatraz Rocks polish, was a beautiful shade of blue that had just enough textured sparkle to match the stars on this cover. When I went through my nail polishes to paint my nails green to match Lilac’s dress on the cover, I found that the only green polish I had went on almost translucent. But since I love the color of Lilac’s dress (green and blue are my favorite colors) and because it played such an important role in the story too, I wanted to create the perfect matching shade. To do this, I layered on some green, then dabbed on OPI San Francisco’s blue Keeping Suzi at Bay, before adding a thick layer of green again. Afterwards, to keep with the star/space theme, I added sparkles to the tips (which are hard to see in the photos).

What nail polish are you wearing this week?

I love comments

  1. I love these! And the colors match perfectly too! I keep meaning to paint my nails… I just got all these fantastic shimmery shades – black with gold sparkles, lilac with violet sparkles, and cinderella blue with purple and pink sparkles. So many to choose from!!! I want to create a galaxy on my fingers :D

    • I hope you love it too! It looks pretty on, & as soon as you get it out in the sun it really sparkles. :) Yep, books again! You caught me right as I was going out of the “MUST WEAR ALL MY OPI SF POLISHES” phase and into matching my nails to my books (hope that’s ok–I know Mad About Nails isn’t exactly a matching nails meme). Going to go see your reply now! :)
