Fairy Tale Survey (Part 1)
23April 6, 2014 by Alice in Readerland
Mel at The Daily Prophecy is one of my favorite bloggers, and she came up with the Fairy Tale Survey, where you answer fairy tale-inspired questions about books!
Let’s get started:
Part 1. The Classic Princesses
Pinocchio – The boy whose nose grows when he lies.
Is there are book you lie about, because you feel ashamed for liking it?
Nope! I don’t think you should feel ashamed about a book you love.
Beauty and the beast – The girl who fell in love with personality.
Which book do you love that has a hideous cover?
Hmmm…Well, one of my favorite books is The Beekeeper’s Apprentice by Laurie R. King, but the copy I got was a used paperback with a rather plain grey cover. So I’m thinking about getting the upcoming anniversary edition of it.
Snow White – Hunted down for her beauty.
Do you ever buy a book based on the cover alone and if so, what is the last one?
I’ve only done this once, and the book was For Darkness Shows the Stars by Diana Peterfreund! I just love the stars and the colors on the cover!
Sleeping beauty – Cursed to sleep, awakened by true loves kiss.
Who is your favorite book couple?
Katniss and Peeta! I love how they’re opposites and really compliment each other.
Little Mermaid – Gave up on her old life for love.
Do you ever branch out to new genres or do you like to stick with the ones you know and love? If you try new things out, what is the latest book?
I’ve always been eclectic in my tastes and enjoyed reading from a wide variety of genres. But I would say that last year I started reading more SciFi and Dystopian than I used to.
Cinderella – Who lost her shoe after midnight.
What is the last book that made you stay up all night?
Cress (The Lunar Chronicles #3) by Marissa Meyer! It’s my favorite book so far this year.
Rapunzel – locked up in a tower.
What is the worst book you read last month?
I was really disappointed in The Here and Now by Ann Brashares.
Next week, I’ll be doing Part 2 of the Fairy Tale Survey!
This is really cool, I often go by the cover but never let it be the sole purpose of me being a book.
Exactly, a cover can draw you to a book, but the synopsis has to hook you too! :)
Cuuuute, with those gifs :D I really like seeing how everyone turns this survey into something of their own. Thanks for participating <3
Great, no shame! I think that it's very important to feel comfortable with the books you love. I'm also reading more Sci-fi, because I never thought I could enjoy it as much as I do. Sometimes it takes time to find the right books in a certain genre. CRESS, loved it!
Thanks! This was really fun to fill out and I’m curious to see everyone else’s answers now too. :)
This is so adorable! There are so many books with great covers right now (I actually bought that same one because of the cover as well!). I am sad that everyone I’ve talked to/read seems to be disappointed in The Here and Now, I had hoped that it would be good, but it doesn’t seem to be the case.
My friends and I were really excited for The Here and Now, so I’m sad that it didn’t work out for some.
This is super cute, I love Disney and fairy tales!
I also ship Katniss and Peeta.
Hooray! *High fives you*
Ugh, The Here and Now. Just reading the title makes me cringe.
For Darkness Shows the Stars is one of my favorite covers; I bought it just for that reason too :D I still haven’t read it! I love the sequel’s cover too, but the first book’s is better.
I was so excited for The Here and Now! I’m still getting over how disappointing it was. :/
I love that you added gifs! For Darkness Shows the Stars does have a gorgeous cover, so I think it was a great decision to buy it. :)
It’s definitely one of my favorite covers! :)
wow this is really cool! I want to try this :) great answers :D
Yay! I’ll have to see your answers if you try it! :)

I saw this on Mel’s blog and LOVED it, I think I’ll have to do it sometime. And those gifs. I’m such a geek over gifs. And FDStS is GORGEOUS. I love looking at it, it can’t ever get old for me. Of course, you made me get that longing to reread The Hunger Games again after mentioning Katniss and Peeta. They’re imperfectly perfect for each other!
I’ve been feeling like rereading The Hunger Games too; I so ship Katniss and Peeta! :)

What a fun idea! I’ve been trying to read a wider variety of genres too, mainly science fiction and fantasy because I tend to stick with contemporary. Wonderful post, and, as always,a terrific choice in gifs! :)
Thanks! :)
