What was the latest book treasure/gem you found?

I recently came across the book Fortunately, the Milk by Doctor Who writer Neil Gaiman, and it was really funny!

Alice in Wonderland – The girl who fell through a rabbit’s hole. 

Which book made you really feel like you landed in another world?

This is going to sound odd, but Double Whammy by Carl Hiaasen! Having been a fan of his Middle Grade books for a while now, I recently read one of his adult books and even though it was set in Florida, he really made you feel like you were in another world because he writes about such eccentric characters and bizarre situations.

East of the sun and west of the moon – where a girl embarks on a journey to save her love.

Who is one of your favorite kick-butt heroines?

My favorite kick-butt heroine is definitely Katniss from The Hunger Games! Not only could she physically kick-butt and be handy with a bow and arrow, but she also had so much inner strength. I love how she sacrificed herself for her sister, how she made a stand that killing innocent people was wrong (especially in Mockingjay), and most importantly, how she learned to just keep going.

The Frog Prince – where an enchanted prince becomes human again.

What is a book you thought you would hate, but end up loving?

So I never thought I’d hate it, but The Hunger Games. I really wasn’t a fan of the concept of teens my age killing each other or of Dystopian, so I held off reading it for a while, but when I did read it I ended up loving Katniss and the message of the story. The ending paragraph to Mockingjay is one of my favorite passages of literature ever.

Hansel and Gretel – left alone in the woods and captured by a witch.

Which duo (sister/sister, brother/sister) is your favorite and why?

Scout and Jem from To Kill a Mockingbird because they were there when they needed each other.

Little Red Riding Hood – almost eaten by a wolf dressed as her grandmother.

What book disappointed you after falling in love with the cover and blurb?

I was disappointed in Alienated by Melissa Landers, not that it was bad book, it was just that it had been advertised as being really funny and I was expecting a lot more humor than it had.

Rumpelstilskin – nobody knows his name.

Which book do you love that doesn’t get enough attention?

l really love Across a Star-Swept Sea (a retelling of one of my favorite classics, The Scarlet Pimpernel) by Diane Peterfreund, but I haven’t heard many people talking about it.
